CLINICAL TRIALS

 



TRIALS ACTIVELY ENROLLING PATIENTS: Thanks for your interest in our clinical trials. Periodically we will list clinical trials on this page that are actively enrolling new patients. Currently we have two studies listed. Please also check back in the future for updates.

1. We are conducting an observational study of patients with Retinitis Pigmentosa, Cone-rod dystrophy, Stargardt disease and Best Macular dystrophy in addition to dry AMD, using adaptive optics imaging. Patients must be willing to spend 1/2 day imaging at UCSF and 1/2 day at UC Berkeley, must have pupils that dilate to at least 7 mm, cannot be more than 4 diopters nearsighted, cannot have had LASIK or other refractive surgery, and cannot have cataract or have had cataract surgery with an artificial lens. We also seek normal subjects who meet the same criteria to participate. The PI for this trial is Dr. Jacque Duncan. Please call 415-476-0444 for more information.




TRIALS
NO LONGER ENROLLING PATIENTS:
The following studies are now closed to enrollment of new patients

CNTF3: This Phase II/III trial will evaluate the effect of a growth factor, CNTF, on the rate of visual acuity loss in patients with moderately advanced Retinitis Pigmentosa. The PI for this trial is Dr. Jacque Duncan. This study is now closed to enrollment.

CNTF4: This Phase II/III trial will evaluate the effect of CNTF on visual field sensitivity in patient with early Retinitis Pigmentosa. The PI for this trial is Dr. Jacque Duncan. This study is now closed to enrollment.

Second Sight: this Phase I trial of an epiretinal prosthetic device will test the safety and efficacy of this device to restore visual perception in patients with severe to profound Retinitis Pigmentosa. The PI for this trial is Dr. Jacque Duncan. This study is now closed to enrollment.
